Mental Health First Aid Training Opportunities

As part of Cabarrus County’s Mental Wellness Initiative and in partnership with Carolinas Healthcare System, Cardinal Innovations, Novant, Mental Health America and Emergency Management Services (EMS), Mental Health First Aid will be offered around Cabarrus County throughout 2018. The cost of the training is Free.

Because we can all be more aware and informed, Mental Health First Aid will teach you how to identify, understand and respond to mental illnesses and substance use disorders in our community.

Golf Cart Ordinance

The purpose of this ordinance shall be to establish a Golf Cart Ordinance within the Town to promote the health, safety and welfare of persons operating cart(s) within the Town and to protect the safety of their passengers and other users of roads.

Back Creek Greenway RFQ

The Town of Harrisburg is seeking RFQs from qualified firms that are interested in providing architectural, engineering, design and construction document services for Back Creek Greenway.

This Request for Qualifications (RFQ) describes the required scope of services, consultant selection process and the minimum information that must be included in the proposal. Failure to submit information in accordance with these requirements and procedures may be cause for disqualification.

Town of Harrisburg Flag Contest

For the first time in the Town’s history, Harrisburg will soon have a flag to serve as a unique icon that represents its people and culture.

Fourteen-year-old Jonathan Andrus proposed the idea of holding a contest to create a Town flag during the public comment section of the March 12, 2018 Town Council meeting. During his comments, Andrus said he has gotten more than four dozen of his peers’ signatures to support having a Town flag.

Water and Wastewater System Development Fee Study

Per the new North Carolina General Statues, the Town of Harrisburg has engaged a professional consulting firm, Willdan Financial Services, to perform a Water and Wastewater System Development Fee Study. The Study will use the calculation guidance provided by the State and the Town will use this study as the basis for setting the FY2019 fees. Per State Statute, the study must be made available for public inspection and comment for 45 days prior to the new fees being adopted.

Harrisburg Art Walk Scholarship

The Harrisburg Art Walk annually awards a one-time $1,000 scholarship to one graduating high school senior who demonstrates excellence in creative writing, dance, drama, music or the visual arts. The application deadline has been extended to May 1, 2018.

Façade & Site Improvement Matching Grant

The Town of Harrisburg is offering a Façade and Site Improvement Matching Grant in association with initiatives set forth by the Economic Development Market Analysis, 2015. The intent of the grant program is to encourage property owners and existing businesses to improve the appearance of their buildings and provide an incentive for new businesses to locate in Harrisburg.
