Updated FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in partnership with the State of North Carolina, is updating the FEMA floodplain maps. These new maps will go into effect on November 16, 2018 and replace the 2008 maps. The Town of Harrisburg is required to update these maps to maintain participation in National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) to allow property owners in the floodplain to purchase Federal Flood Insurance.

Town of Harrisburg welcomes Sushil Nepal as Planning and Economic Development Director

The Town of Harrisburg is pleased to announce the recent hiring of Mr. Sushil Nepal to the position of Planning and Economic Development Director, effective Monday, October 1, 2018. In this role, Sushil will direct and facilitate long-range planning and economic development efforts for the Town. He will be responsible for managing staff activities within the Planning and Economic Development Department.

Back Creek Greenway Presentation and Discussion - October 16

The Town of Harrisburg Parks and Recreation Department will give a presentation and hold a discussion regarding the alignment of Back Creek Greenway on Tuesday, October 16 at 6:30 p.m. at Harvest Harrisburg Church, 7155 Hickory Ridge Road. The Back Creek Greenway would be a multi-use path, providing a means of alternative transportation, recreation and leisure, and connecting families with schools and parks.

October 8, 2018 Town Council Meeting Location Change

Due to the anticipated large attendance for the Monday, October 8. 2018 Town Council meeting, the meeting will be moved from Town Hall to the Hickory Ridge High School auditorium (7321 Raging Ridge Road). The meeting will begin at its normal time of 6 p.m.

Emergency Town Council Meeting - September 14, 2018

An Emergency Town Council meeting was held at the Harrisburg Town Hall on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. to officially declare a state of emergency for the Town of Harrisburg due to the potential impacts of Hurricane Florence.

Shred Event at Bags in the ' Burg

In conjunction with the eighth annual Bags in the 'Burg cornhole tournament on Saturday, October 6, the Local Government Federal Credit Union will sponsor a shred event from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. in Town Center.

Bring your personal documents and records to be safely shredded at no cost to you. Limit of three document boxes or 75 pounds of paper per attendee.
