All of the coaches that are utilized for youth soccer, softball, baseball, flag football, tackle football and cheerleading do so on a volunteer basis. All volunteer coaches with Harrisburg Parks & Recreation are required to fill out the Harrisburg Parks & Recreation coaching application, code of conduct and a background check form in order to be eligible to coach. In addition, each volunteer coach will have their picture taken for an ID badge that is required to be worn at all practices and games of the sport they are coaching.
If you plan to assistant the coach or help in any aspect (on the sidelines, field of play, dugout, etc.) during practices or games of your child or others, you are also required to fill out the same paperwork and get an ID badge to be worn. This is done for the safety of everyone in our program.
Spring 2018 Coaching Application
The deadline has passed to get a background check completed by the Town of Harrisburg for the Spring 2018 season. You can still receive a coaching badge, but you must provide your own copy of a National Background Check with a Notary Stamp or Seal. We suggest visiting the Cabarrus County Court House at: 77 Union St. in Concord, NC. The fee is $25. Please bring that background check to the Parks and Recreation Office along with your completed coaching application for a coaching badge.
Please click the link below for the corresponding sport. Once completed in its entirety, bring the application to the Parks and Recreation office. Our office is located within Town Hall on the first floor. We are located on the left, passed the steps that lead up to the YMCA and elevator. The office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Also plan a time to come by the Harrisburg Park & Recreation office during operating hours to have an ID badge made.
Please note, submission of an application does not guarantee a coaching position. Coaches are picked at the discretion of the Athletic Coordinator. Please review the season's information sheet. You should also reach out to the age-specific coordiantor of the sport you would like to coach to notify them you are interested in coaching.
If you have any additional questions, please contact Harrisburg Parks & Recreation at 704-455-7275.
