All of the coaches that are utilized for youth soccer, softball, baseball, flag football, tackle football and cheerleading do so on a volunteer basis. All volunteer coaches with Harrisburg Parks & Recreation are required to fill out the Harrisburg Parks & Recreation coaching application, code of conduct and a background check form in order to be eligible to coach. In addition, each volunteer coach will have their picture taken for an ID badge that is required to be worn at all practices and games of the sport they are coaching.

In addition, if you plan to assistant coach or help in any aspect (on the sidelines, field of play, dugout, etc.) during practices or games of your child or others, you are also required to fill out the same paperwork and get an ID badge to be worn. This is done for the safety of everyone in our program.

Please also plan a time to come by the Harrisburg Park & Recreation office during operating hours to have an ID badge made. Once you submit your coaching paperwork, it takes approximately one week before you can get your coaching badge. We must receive your background check back before we will issue a coach's badge.

Submission of an application does not guarantee a coaching position. Coaches are picked at the discretion of the Athletic Coordinator. Please review the season's information sheet for the coach's meeting date and time. This is mandatory for all head coaches each season. You should also reach out to the age specific coordiantor of the sport you would like to coach to notify them you are interested in coaching.

If you have additional questions, please contact Harrisburg Parks & Recreation at: 704-455-7275

*Fall 2017 Coaching Applications*

The deadline has passed to get a background check done by the Town of Harrisburg for the Fall 2017 season. You can still get a coaching badge, but must provide your own copy of a National Background Check with a Notary Stamp or Seal. We suggest visiting the Cabarrus County Court House at: 77 Union St. in Concord, NC. The fee is $25. Please bring that background check to the Parks and Recreation Office along with your completed coaching application for a coaching badge.
