Shelter Information

There are multiple picnic shelters located within Harrisburg Park - see below for photos, amenities, and shelter specific details. 

Shelters may be used on a first-come, first-served basis for personal gatherings if not otherwise reserved or closed. Most picnic shelters can be rented to secure availability on a specific date and time. To inquire about available shelters and dates, please call 704-455-7275 x option 1 or email [email protected]NOTE: The shelters at Harrisburg Park are not available for rent on Saturdays during spring and fall sports seasons. No rental requests will be accepted for Saturday dates from August through mid-November or March through May. Exceptions may be made for holiday weekends, such as Easter, Memorial Day, and Labor Day, if no sports are scheduled. Additional "blackout" dates may be necessary due to Town events and programing.

Rental fees, time options, and other rental details are shown on the form, as well as the associated general rules & regulations for facility use. Completed request forms should be emailed to [email protected] or brought to the Parks & Recreation office for review at least one week in advance of requested date

Payment for approved rental reservations can be made over the phone or in person. Reservations are not confirmed until payment is made.

Shelter #1:
Largest shelter at Harrisburg Park (12 tables, 2 grills, and electricity). Restroom facilities. Located on the far side of the park, past the athletic fields, at the top of the hill next to the pump track. This is the farthest shelter from the playground and splash pad. 
NOTE: The restrooms at shelter #1 are closed from November through February for winterizing. Shelter 1
Shelter #2:
NOTE: This shelter has minimal rental availability and will not be available for reservation during youth and athletics seasons and/or other times as determined by Harrisburg Parks and Recreation. This shelter is primarily used as a common space for all parkgoers to enjoy when not in use by or reserved for athletics or other Town events. 
Larger shelter (8 tables, grill, electricity) with restrooms and concession stand attached (not available for rent).  
Shelter 2

Shelter #3:
Larger Shelter (8 tables, grill, electricity). Restrooms attached. Located adjacent to a parking lot and retention pond. Shelter #3 is across the parking lot from the football field (#4).
Shelter 3

Shelter #4:
Smaller Shelter (6 tables, grill, electricity). Located adjacent to a parking lot and the splash pad. No restrooms attached. (Shelter #4 is the closest one to the splash pad.)
Number 4

Shelter #5:
Smaller Shelter (6 tables, grill, electricity). Located adjacent to the playground. No restrooms attached. (Shelter #5 is the closest one to the playground.)
Number 5

Covered Breezeway:
The picnic tables and covered breezeway between the splash pad and bathrooms is a common, public-use area and may not be "saved", decorated, or rented/reserved. This covered picnic area is intended as a common space for all parkgoers to enjoy together.   

The Amphitheater at Harrisburg Park is used by The Town of Harrisburg and its Community Partners for approved events. The Amphitheater is not available for individual or private-use rental or reservation. 

Library - Harrisburg Branch

The Harrisburg Branch of the Cabarrus County Public Library System is located within Harrisburg Park at 201 Sims Parkway Harrisburg, NC 28075. During operating hours, parking at the library is for use by library patrons only. Vehicles parked illegally will be towed at owner's expense.
