[ARCHIVED] Change in Taste and Odor of Water

The Town’s water supplier is experiencing lake turnover, causing a change in taste and odor of water in the area. Lake turnover, which causes water from the bottom of the lake to move to the top of the lake, occurs twice a year when temperatures change. Although the taste and odor may be unpleasant, it is safe to drink the water. The water has been treated and the Town conducts multiple daily tests to ensure the safety of drinking the water. If the water is found to be unsafe to drink, customers will be notified within 24 hours, but there is nothing at this time that indicates there are unsafe conditions.

We apologize for any inconvenience and want you to know that the Town and its water supplier are working diligently to address the issue to the best of our abilities. If you have any questions, please contact Water Supervisor Larry Aldridge at [email protected].
