Healthiest Employer Award
The Charlotte Business Journal named the Town of Harrisburg one of the Healthiest Employers in the Charlotte-area for the second consecutive year! The Town moved up in category this year and competed with organizations that have up to 5,000 employees and more resources and funding for their programs. Because of our creativity and out of the box thinking, we are being recognized and honored as a healthiest employer.
Our award and achievement has also been noted in the Independent Tribune.
Safety Awards
In 2021, the Town of Harrisburg's Administration Department received a Gold Award for the fourth consecutive year from the N.C. Department of Labor, and the Public Works Department received its first Silver Award!
N.C. Department of Labor's Safety Awards Program recognizes employers with good safety records. The Safety Award Program is designed to stimulate interest in accident prevention and to promote safety in the workplace by providing an incentive to employers and employees to maintain a safe and healthful workplace.
The Town received the following 2020 NCDOL Gold Safety Awards: Town of Harrisburg, Public Works Department, Park and Recreation Department and Administrative Department. To qualify for the Gold Awards, the department must have a DART (Days Away/Restricted Time) rate that is at or below 50% of the rate for like departments throughout the state during the previous year.
