Mayor Steve Sciascia served two terms on Harrisburg Town Council from 2006 to 2013, was elected as mayor in 2013 and re-elected in 2017.
Steve earned a Bachelor of Science and Business Administration from Appalachian State University. He has worked in information technology and banking for over 30 years and is currently an IT operational risk manager for a large Charlotte bank. Steve served as president of Harrisburg Youth Association for seven years, overseeing the transition of the organization from a volunteer-based youth league to what is now the Harrisburg Parks and Recreation Department. He has coached and mentored over 35 baseball, football, soccer and basketball teams. Steve and his wife, Pam, have three children. He is an avid backpacker, cyclist and Carolina Panthers fan.
Mayor Sciascia has devoted extensive time and effort to support NC Governor Pat McCrory's "Talk it Out" initiative to prevent underage drinking. He was recognized for his efforts with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the highest honor bestowed on North Carolinians by the Governor in recognition of a proven record of service to the State.
