Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is encouraging areas to work jointly to form comprehensive hazard mitigation plans. Town of Harrisburg staff has been working with Cabarrus, Stanly and Union Counties to formulate the Cabarrus Stanly Union Hazard Mitigation Plan (PDF). The plan is a necessary document because FEMA funding could be withheld following an incident in certain situations, such as funding from the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HGMP) and other programs.
