The Finance Department establishes and maintains an accounting and reporting system in accordance with North Carolina General Statutes, federal laws and regulations and generally accepted accounting principles.
The Town of Harrisburg Fire Department utilizes a combination of full-time and part-time employees, along with some volunteers. The Department runs out of three stations and provides fire suppression, emergency medical responses, rescue services, and public and life safety education to residents of the Town of Harrisburg, as well as residents of Cabarrus County.
Human Resources coordinates programs and services for the Town’s employees, including compensation and benefits administration, employee records, workforce recruitment and selection, employee relations and health and wellness initiatives.
Under an agreement with the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office, the Town of Harrisburg has 10 officers assigned to provide full-time police coverage to the town, including one sergeant and nine officers.

The Planning and Zoning Department is responsible for regulating development within the Town of Harrisburg.
The Town of Harrisburg provides residents with a wide range of services, including water and sewer service, yard waste removal, bulk item pick up and garbage and recycling collection through contracted vendor Waste Pro.
