The Town of Harrisburg adopted its Community Transportation Plan (CTP) to identify the transportation needs for motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians and transit in the community. The community-driven planning process established a vision for the transportation system in Harrisburg, identified needs and deficiencies, recommended specific projects and strategies and created an action plan for implementation. The planning process kicked off in June 2019. The CTP was adopted in October 2020.
Project Background: The project team held several steering committee meetings and a public workshop, as well as distributed an online survey. The public workshop was held in the Council Chambers on October 24, 2019 and was attended by 21 people. Individuals who participated in the workshop had the opportunity to engage with Town staff, learn about existing conditions and share their thoughts about transportation needs. The online survey was live from October 24 to November 21, 2019 and gathered feedback from 201 individuals. View survey results.
In February 2020, the Steering Committee reconvened to review the recommendations and provide feedback. The second workshop (public meeting) that was scheduled to review the Harrisburg Community Transportation Plan (CTP) was canceled due to COVID-19.
Staff presented the DRAFT to the Town Council on September 14 and the CTP was adopted by Town Council in October 2020.
