
The Public Works Department is responsible for operation and maintenance of the Town's water distribution and wastewater collection systems. The water distribution system consists of 94 miles of piping, one elevated storage tank, two wells, and other appurtenances. The wastewater collection system consists of 83 miles of gravity flow pipes, 21 pumping stations, and 11 miles of force mains (pressurized piping).
The Public Works Department is also responsible for solid waste collection, street maintenance and stormwater services. The residential garbage collection and recycling portion of solid waste collection is outsourced to a contractor, while the yard waste and bulky items collection is provided in house. The Department maintains 45 miles of streets and right-of-ways throughout the Town. The Department is also responsible for administering the Town’s Phase II Stormwater Program.
