Cabarrus Meals on Wheels delivers 390 meals per day to clients across the county. On March 23, Harrisburg Mayor Tim Hagler -- alongside other community leaders -- lent a helping hand to the program, distributing meals to area residents.

Mayor Hagler joined two Cabarrus County commissioners and two town mayors on Wednesday for "Mayors and Others for Meals." Hosted annually by Cabarrus Meals on Wheels, the program provides an opportunity for volunteerism to county-wide officials and brings increased "attention to senior hunger," according to the agency's website.

Each mayor and commissioner, said the organization's Executive Director Kimberly Strong, delivered between 15 and 18 meals to seniors. She noted that the program is always seeking volunteers for the nearly three dozen delivery routes they daily serve.
