From tips about preventing hypothermia to suggestions for a disaster supply kit, the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office wants to ensure you and your family are prepared for emergencies this winter.

"Be prepared to manage for at least three days without outside help and no services," the Sheriff's Office notes in their release titled "Crime Prevention Strategies for Winter Emergency Preparedness." They also suggest keeping an emergency list of phone numbers nearby and having extra medication on-hand if winter weather prevents leaving the home for several days.

The strategies listed were created through the Sheriff's Office Crime Prevention Program. To view the document in its entirety, click here.
