Construction began this week on the Town of Harrisburg’s Hwy 49 Sidewalk Improvements Project.

Along the business corridor between Robinson Church Road and McDonald’s on Hwy 49, approximately 4,000 feet of sidewalk will be installed through December. Town Engineer Derek Slocum said, “This sidewalk will ‘fill in the holes’ where sidewalk currently does not exist.”

Work will only be conducted between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. “The public should anticipate that there will be permanent to intermittent lane closures during the project in order to allow the contractor to install the sidewalk,” Slocum noted.

8 Star Construction, out of Pineville, has been contracted for the 75-day project.

Great! Will street lights also be extended to that area? There are some visibility issues at night especially at shopping center & business entrances.
