Fall book sale to benefit Harrisburg Library

 HARRISBURG, NC (Sept.  7, 2012) …It’s never too early to begin holiday shopping and the Friends of the Harrisburg Library (FOHL) will give local residents the opportunity at its fall book sale on Saturday, Sept. 29.

 After a one-year hiatus, the FOHL will hold this year’s event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Harrisburg Presbyterian Church at the corner of Robinson Church Road and Highway 49.

Thousands of nearly new books, DVDs, and CDs, all donated by library patrons, will be available for $2 or less in a variety of categories.

Proceeds from the sale will enable the FOHL to continue its efforts in supporting the community’s library by:

           Providing the library with  new books and much- needed equipment, such as  book drops, trucks, and baskets, an up-to-date globe, and other materials that  expand the library’s offerings and services, and help make library  operations more efficient for its staff and patrons;

           Recruiting and scheduling volunteers to shelve and organize books and provide supplemental help to the library staff;

           Sponsoring programs for patrons of all ages, including summer reading, after-school teen reading programs, and author receptions and other adult programs;   and

           Organizing other fund-raisers such as the sale of literary-themed gift baskets, and library walkway bricks, and raffles.
