Harrisburg Town Council approved the town-initiated annexations of The Sloop Estates and the Canterfield Estates subdivisions at their meeting Monday night.
These annexations are scheduled to go into effect Jan. 1, 2011.
Rezoning by the town will be necessary for Canterfield Estates, which is currently zoned as LDR, or low density residential, said Planning Director Joshua Watkins. He noted that The Sloop Estates will not require rezoning. This subdivision is already included in the town's ETJ, or extra-territorial jurisdiction, which goes beyond town limits. The Sloop Estates is zoned RM-1, medium density residential.
