Thomas "Boone" Linker from the Town of Harrisburg's Parks and Recreation Department was recently named this year's recipient of the Mitch Upton Safety Award.

This honor is annually presented to one staff member who exhibits exceptional commitment to the safety of citizens, coworkers and him or herself. The award is dedicated to the late Mitch Upton, a town employee whose commitment to workplace safety set the benchmark by which all past and future recipients of the award are compared. The recipients are selected each year by the Town’s Safety Steering Committee from a pool of nominees from each department.

Linker was nominated by Parks Supervisor Dale Freeman for the award. Parks and Recreation Deputy Director Shawn Marble said Linker "was nominated because he is always doing his best to follow safety procedures and will help other staff to follow the same procedures."

Mayor Tim Hagler presented Linker with the award at the July 11 Town Council meeting. Linker is the award's third recipient.

The Town of Harrisburg hopes you will join us in congratulating Boone Linker!
