Shawn Marble, recreation coordinator for Town of Harrisburg Parks and Recreation, was recently awarded a "Special Recognition Award" for her efforts with the Cabarrus County Department of Aging.
Throughout her four years with the Town of Harrisburg, Marble has volunteered her services at various Cabarrus County Senior Center events. Her biggest contributions, she said, have been with the Senior Games, serving on the games' steering committee and acting as event director for the last three years.
Said Marble about her work, "I really enjoy seniors and since we don’t have many senior programs here in Harrisburg I figure that’s a good way to stay involved with them and hopefully get some more senior programs in Harrisburg." Currently the Town of Harrisburg offers a bridge program and croquet in the spring. Marble hopes to soon provide local quilting classes for seniors.
The Town of Harrisburg extends our congratulations to Shawn for her recent recognition!
