Cabarrus County Schools (CCS) has been educating students for nearly 100 years. Our school system’s story is woven into the fabric of Harrisburg and every municipality in the county. CCS educate more than 32,000 students in 39 schools - making our system among the largest in North Carolina and one of the largest employers in Cabarrus County. Close to the Town of Harrisburg and in the Charlotte Metro Region, 18 public and private secondary institutions offer a wide range of baccalaureate degrees; 12 schools offer graduate opportunities - master or doctoral programs - in a variety of disciplines; and 15 junior colleges, community colleges and technical institutes confer two-year associate degrees.

Located four miles from Harrisburg Town Center, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte offers hundreds of academic choices at its 1,000-acre campus. Rowan-Cabarrus Community College offers affordable occupational and education programs to meet the workforce development needs of regional businesses.

Excellence abounds among the institutions offering students a variety of learning environments from large, diverse campuses to small, denominational settings. Tuition for four-year degree programs ranges from $4,250 annually for a North Carolina resident living off campus at a public school to $38,784 for a private college student living on campus.
